On highways the speed limit is about 112 km/h (of course if there are no other signs). Signs which inform about approaching objects, e.g. a car repair shop, highway exit show the distance in yards (1 yard = ca. 0.9 m). Therefore 200 yards means about 180 m. You will notice a lot of speed limits near the cities and between them (even on highways).

Motor brake and retarder both set to auto can cause the engine to shut off when stopping abruptly. They probably lowered the speed limit for the skoda and trucks without cargo. It's better, because if you drive 230-240km/h that is waaaay too much. You can crash faster and if you smash into a traffic jam or start driving reckless you might be kicked or worse: banned. So, lowering the speed limit was a great idea and i totally support it!

Within the bounds of the game, there is no reason for a truck to exceed 90kph since the maximum truck speed for most of the places you will be driving is 80kph. For the few places that go higher, you could disable to speed limiter (unless doing External work) and then go that little bit more and do the 97 or 100kph allowed there.

In Canada, the limit for semis is 90 or 100 but trucks don't have to have a speed limiter (although in Quebec they do). You will see most trucks going faster though, usually about 110. Highways in Canada have a speed limit of 100, but everyone drives 120 or more.
